Exporting to Calendar
Once you have found a solution you want to use, export it as an ICS file to import into your calendar application.
How to export
- Navigate to the solution you want (use Prev / Next in the results bar).
- Click Export Calendar in the results bar.
- An ICS file is downloaded automatically.
The filename is generated from your university slug and semester. For example, uts-aut-2026-timetable.ics.
What is included in the export
The ICS file contains one calendar event per class occurrence per active teaching week. Each event includes:
- Title: The subject code and activity type (e.g.
48430 Lecture). - Start and end time: The exact scheduled time for that week.
- Location: The room or building, if available.
- Description: Subject name, activity type, teaching weeks, and staff name.
Events are placed in the Australia/Sydney timezone.
Importing into calendar apps
| Application | How to import |
|---|---|
| Google Calendar | Settings > Import & Export > Import |
| Apple Calendar | File > Import |
| Outlook | File > Open & Export > Import/Export > Import an iCalendar |
| Thunderbird | Events & Tasks > Import |
Most mobile calendar apps also support importing ICS files by opening the file on your device.
Teaching weeks and event dates
The export generates one event per active teaching week, based on the week pattern associated with each class. This means a subject with 13 teaching weeks generates 13 events per class.
TIP
If some events appear on the wrong dates after importing, check that your calendar application correctly reads the timezone header (X-WR-TIMEZONE: Australia/Sydney) included in the ICS file.
